Microkeratome (Surgical LASIK)

In this technique, the outer surface of the cornea is slightly shifted back using a microsurgical mechanical scalpel (microkeratome), then vision impairment is corrected using an excimer laser by improving the shape of the cornea according to the defects of the degree of vision, then re-positioning the outer surface of the cornea to begin healing and correcting the refractive error, and this is one of the most common surgeries as its results are good and the patient has good vision quickly only hours after surgery.

Can MK-LASIK treat all Vision refractive problems??

Myopia, farsightedness, astigmatism and visual aberration can be treated with surgical LASIK technique.

What is advantage of MK-LASIK

The operation is done under local anesthesia and takes a few minutes after which you can enjoy improved vision quickly

How is the surgical Scalpel used in MK-LASIK?

We use a precise and effective surgical scalpel that is placed in a mechanical device (microkeratome) and is fixed on the surface of the eye to accurately separate the corneal flap and then the scalpel is removed. The surgical scalpel is sterile and used only once and then discarded

MK-LASIK Procedure Steps

1

Preoperative Prepearation

A superficial anesthetic drop is applied to the eye, then sterilized and gently opened using a surgical speculum
2

Microkeratome Flap fashioning

The eye is fixed by placing a metal ring that serves as a base for the microkeratome device that begins its work using its micromotors to separate the corneal flap in preparation for laser reception
3

Laser correction

The eye print with use of iris pattern is registered to repair visual impairment accurately by means of an excimer laser that finishes its work in a few seconds.
4

We are Done with your new Vision

Now the corneal flap is returned to its place, the eye is washed, an antibiotic is applied, the location of the flap is accurate, then check on your eyes and you can go home within minutes of the operation.
